The advert on the left ('Clear refreshing thirst quenching Chandy') appeared on the rear cover of the programme for the Eight Clubs’ 22nd Annual Race Meeting held at Silverstone on 22nd May 1971, at which event we are amazed to learn you could also apparently buy 'Chandy crisps in delicious flavours'! We have an original copy of this advert, but alas no Chandy crisps.
The advert on the right ('Thirsty? say Ch Chandy') appeared on the rear cover of the programme for the 750 Motor Club's 6-Hour Relay Race held at Thruxton on 13th August 1972. How and in what way Chandy was 'now a new exciting marriage of lemonade and beer' in 1972 is a complete mystery, though, given it had been around since the early 1950s and had always been, as far as we know, a mixture of lemonade and beer. We have an original copy of this advert.
Of course, if you know of any Chandy adverts from any era that we're not aware of yet, then we'd love to hear from you. Please contact us.
Chandy print adverts - 1970s
If the Chandy print advertising budget in the 1960s didn’t extend to reaching particularly mainstream titles, then by the 1970s things got even more obscure. We are only aware of two Chandy print adverts from the 1970s, both just appearing in programme booklets for motor racing events.
The two adverts are shown below. Click either image to see it full size.
